Oakley has released two new pairs of sunglasses, the Kato and the Kato X, which feature a large frameless lens that wraps around a rider’s nose.
They have been recently spotted on WorldTour riders including Mark Cavendish and Chris Froome.
The Kato models feature a large one-piece, wraparound Prizm lens which has a built-in retention piece to grip the nose. The design allows the sunglasses to sit closer to the face. The large lens coverage and high degree of wrap which Oakley says has a ‘mask-like feel’, increases a rider’s field of view whilst also improving eye protection.

An adjustable system in the temples allows the lenses to be tilted. This tilt allows the lenses to better fit to the form of your face and more comfortably around the cheek bones.
The Kato and Kato X sunglasses are currently available with three different lenses: Prizm Black (11% light transmission for bright lighting conditions), Prizm Sapphire (12% light transmission – for bright lighting conditions) and Prizm Road (20% light transmission for medium lighting conditions).
